Grupo Fantasma has been praised as one of the most important independent acts in the Latin genre. Their diverse sound continues to defy expectations and is one of the most unique musical voices to come out of the United States in the last decade. They have won over a dozen Austin Music awards, being admitted into the Austin Music Hall of Fame in 2012, and In 2011 they garnered further acclaim by winning a Grammy Award (their second such nomination) for their self-produced album El Existential.
