A regular at Austin City Limits, Red’s arranging, writing and performing have graced the work of the likes of Dolly Parton and Marcia Ball, and have been a part of movies including The Line of Fire and Indecent Proposal. Inspired by early blues recordings of Ray Charles, Big Joe Turner and Joe Williams, Red loves his horns. His arrangements feature trumpets and alto, tenor and baritone saxes, to which he adds bass, drums, keyboards and vocals. They may start in early blues mode, but wait a minute and they’ll venture into vibrant and complex originals.
