SoulDig! is a Houston-based “supergroup” made up of four standout musicians, each with national recognition and deep roots in the local scene. The band delivers a high-energy blend of Soul, Funk, R&B, Jazz, and Latin — all wrapped in a groove-heavy, feel-good sound. Drawing inspiration from the legendary New Orleans band The Meters, SoulDig! channels that same deep-pocket funk while putting their own spin on it. On keyboards and vocals is David Delagarza, joined by guitarist and vocalist John Calderon — both sharing lead vocal duties. Holding down the rhythm section are drummer Chris Axelrad (also known for his work with TKOh!) and Tim Ruiz, a 4-time Grammy-winning bassist and the event’s curator. With decades of performance experience and undeniable chemistry, SoulDig! brings serious chops, slick grooves, and plenty of soul to every stage they hit.

For this special performance, the second half of SoulDig!’s set will feature members of TKOh! — a beloved Houston funk collective known for their blistering horn section and improvisational fire. Led by horn player, vocalist, and bandleader Kelly Dean, TKOh! includes some of the city’s finest players, including bassist Keith Vivens and drummer Chris Axelrad. Born from a legendary Sunday night residency in the ’90s, TKOh! has long been a proving ground for Houston’s top talent. Their onstage reunion promises unstoppable grooves, rich musical connections — and a funk-fueled birthday celebration!
