The Funky Knuckles  •  Shaun Martin atOne-2-One
Friday, April 21
Show 10:30PM

The inevitable result of a talent-soaked soul and jazz community, The Funky Knuckles are taking the sound of Dallas to an entirely different level. They have been together for six years and have played on stages across the U.S and around the world. The band is comprised of musicians and producers who have worked with some of the most respected acts in the music industry (Beyonce, Erykah Badu, Marcus Miller, Stanley Clarke, Talib Kweli, Chris Dave, The Polyphonic Spree, etc.), yet possess a sound distinctly separate from any of their individual projects.

Texas keyboardist, producer, and songwriter Shaun Martin is a Grammy-winning artist whose adept, jazz-trained chops have found him working in a variety of styles from instrumental jazz to gospel to hip-hop and R&B. He has either produced, recorded and/or toured with a bevy of name artists including Kirk Franklin, Timbaland, Chaka Khan, Yolanda Adams, Tamela Mann, and others. With Franklin, Martin has won three Best Album Grammys, including one for 2011’s gold-certified Hello Fear. In 2014, Martin took home a fourth Grammy, this time for Best R&B Performance with the experimental outfit Snarky Puppy, of which he has been a member since 2010’s Tell Your Friends.
