Hailing from Leeds, the UK funkster quartet group delivers taut, tough R&B and gutsy intensity to jam with sizzle and a side of funk worthy of a crowd-pleasing attention at Art Outside. No stranger to drawing from funk forefathers, the Meters and Earth, Wind & Fire.

Full of sweet Hammond organ and wah-wah guitar where the rhythmic interplay between the instruments easily carry on a lengthy funk jam producing an unstoppable urge to shimmy which real funk surely should do. Thankfully these guys are still doing it!

Lettuce

Friday 12:30-2:30am on the Main Stage

The Brooklyn based super-funk revivalist group, Lettuce is on the flight path to make a cosmic stop to the upcoming Art Outside lineup. The infectious energy casts explosions of heavy old school funk captivating an unmistakable groove in sound evolution from high-octane dance party drum beats, hip hop bass lines, whilst channeling electrifying 60’s and 70’s inspired god fathers of funk and soul – Tower of Power and the Meters.

We play music that reflects “our way of life,” says bassist Erick “E.D.” Coomes, who is joined in the groove onslaught by his co-ragers: keyboardist Neal Evans, saxophonist Ryan Zoidis, Eric Bloom on trumpet, guitarists Eric Krasno and Adam “Shmeeans” Smirnoff, and drummer Adam Deitch. We love that NASTY funk, that undeniable funk, the Funk of the Ages.
